The JL keeps the JK's coil-sprung five-link layout but uses different spring rates, a wider front track bar angle, and a more expensive geometry-correction price tag — budget about $200 extra over a JK build for the same lift height.
The JL chassis carries forward the five-link front and rear coil suspension from the JK. So you can still pick from spacer lifts, spring lifts, mid-arm kits, and long-arm kits. What changed is the geometry-correction tax. Caster on the JL drops faster per inch of lift, and the OEM geometry-correction bracket from Mopar/aftermarket costs around $200 for a JL versus about $90 for the JK. Plan for that.
Spacer lifts (1.25"–2") are bolt-on coil spacers. Cheap, fast, and they keep the OEM ride. Mopar's own 2" kit with Fox shocks at $1,599 is a popular middle path because it's covered if you also lease the Jeep. AEV's 2.5" Dualsport RT ($1,379) is the expedition-grade spring lift for owners running heavy bumpers and a roof rack. Rock Krawler's 3.5" Mid-Arm Stage 2 ($3,876) goes furthest with adjustable lower arms, adjustable track bars, and corrected sway bar links — that's a 37" tire build.
The 4xe complicates lift selection: the rear battery pack changes ride height, and lifts under 2" usually keep the factory shocks; lifts at 2.5"+ require longer shocks specced for 4xe rear hardware. Confirm any kit you buy lists 4xe compatibility on the box.
Sway bar links changed in 2024 — Jeep updated hardware specs, so a link from a 2018 kit may not fit a 2024 build correctly. Check year-specific fitment before ordering.
Tire fitment guide: 33" tires fit a stock JL with no lift if you trim the front fender liner. 35s need 2"–2.5" of lift plus 17"+ wheels with proper backspacing. 37s need 3.5"+ of lift on a non-Rubicon, or a Dynatrac/AEV kit on a Rubicon designed for that height.
