Switch Panel - sPOD vs Switch-Pros vs DIY Carling

Centralized switch panel for accessories. sPOD BantamX ($800-1100) and Switch-Pros SP9100 ($900) are the premium options; DIY Carling rocker panel with relays runs ~$150.

Three main approaches:

(1) sPOD BantamX or HD: solid-state, Bluetooth control via app, no fuses to blow (resettable), 8 circuits, mounts under hood with a panel inside. ~$800-1100. Plug-and-play for most modern Jeeps but XJ requires a generic mounting solution since no XJ-specific bezel exists.

(2) Switch-Pros SP9100: similar concept, 8 circuits, hard-button panel (no Bluetooth needed), one of the most reliable units. ~$900.

(3) DIY: 6 or 8 Carling V-series backlit rocker switches in a Daystar A-pillar pod or custom panel, each driving a Bosch 5-pin relay in a labeled relay bank. ~$120-200 total. Less elegant but bulletproof and field-repairable.

For XJ specifically, A-pillar mount is awkward because the pillar is thin — most use a small panel screwed to the lower dash near the radio or in the overhead area where the dome light is. There are several aftermarket overhead consoles designed for the XJ that include switch cutouts (e.g., Rugged Ridge).
