Install a Blue Sea 5026 or 5025 ATC fuse block to power accessories cleanly instead of running everything off battery posts. Includes negative bus and optional ground bar.
Once you have a winch, light bar, fridge, USB charger, dashcam, and rock lights all needing +12V, the battery posts get covered in ring terminals. A dedicated aux fuse block solves this. The Blue Sea 5026 (12 circuit ATC with negative bus) is the XJ community standard at ~$45, or step up to the 5028 (6-circuit waterproof) for engine-bay mounting.
Mount inside the cabin (under the dash, behind the glovebox) for accessories, or in a sealed engine-bay location for under-hood loads. Feed it with 4 AWG (good for ~85A continuous) from battery+ through a 60-100A MIDI fuse. Run a corresponding 4 AWG ground from the negative bus to a clean chassis ground.
Label every circuit — future you will thank present you. Leave 2-3 spare circuits. Pair with a Blue Sea ST blade fuse holder array if you want to switch entire circuits at once.
