Jeep CJ-5 · 1954–1983
The Long-Production CJ.
Twenty-nine years of production, three engine families, and the shortest wheelbase Jeep ever sold here. The CJ-5 outlasted every other CJ — and earned a reputation for tippiness that ended the line in 1983. Set up right, it still does work no longer-wheelbase Jeep can match.
Early coverage. Trail Manual is building the Jeep platforms out first — the Cherokee XJ library runs 340+ guides. CJ-5 has a starter set of guides today; deeper coverage is on the way. See the XJ library for where this is headed.
