Bed Drawer System for Power Wagon (Decked DS-Series / Goose Gear)

A bed drawer system organizes the chaos. The Power Wagon's 6.4' bed swallows gear, and finding anything in it after a week on the trail is a misery. Decked is the universal answer at $1,400 — bolts in, no drilling, two slide-out drawers rated 200 lb each, top surface doubles as a sleep platform. Goose Gear is the premium customizable alternative at $3,800.

The Power Wagon's bed is excellent for hauling — 6.4 feet long, deep walls — but terrible for organized overland gear. Without organization:

A drawer system fixes this. Three tiers:

Decked DS-Series ($1,400) — the universal answer. Tough polymer construction, two large slide-out drawers running the length of the bed (each ~71" × 25" × 11"), each rated 200 lb capacity. Bolts to the factory bed cleats — no drilling. Install is 2 hours with two people. Top surface is flat and at wheel-well height — works as a sleep platform (see pw-overland-sleep-platform). Survives any abuse you throw at it.

Goose Gear Modular ($3,800) — premium. Marine-grade plywood + steel frame construction, fully customizable layout (drawer + fridge slide + electronics tray combinations). The choice if you want a specific layout (e.g., dual-zone fridge on the left, drawer on the right, water on the slide). Way more capable, twice the price.

ARB Outback Solutions ($2,400) — middle ground. Steel construction, modular drawers, designed by ARB for their accessory ecosystem. Good fit if you're already in the ARB ecosystem (compressor, awning, etc.).

Custom welded steel ($2,500+) — local fabricator route. Heaviest, most durable, no resale value. Worth it if you have a specific need no off-the-shelf product addresses.

Trade-off vs. open bed: drawers eat 11-13" of vertical bed space. If you regularly haul tall stuff (motorcycle, kayaks standing up, hay bales for the horse), drawers are wrong for you. If you regularly haul organized gear (camping, photography, fishing), drawers are the right answer.

Power Wagon-specific note: the Decked DS-Series for the 6.4' Ram bed is bolt-in compatible with all 4th-gen and 5th-gen Power Wagons. The 2025+ Power Wagon (new gen) may need confirmation — check Decked's fitment chart before ordering.

The Decked is the most common path, and it's a real two-person afternoon, not a 20-minute drop-in. The unit ships in a long box and weighs ~230 lb assembled.

  1. Clear the bed and decide on a spray-in liner first. Decked bolts to the factory bed cleats and sits on the bed floor; if you want a liner, have it done before the install, not after.
  2. Unpack and pre-assemble the drawers on sawhorses per the instructions. The frame and drawer boxes ship partially knocked down to fit shipping.
  3. With two people, lower the assembled unit straight down into the bed — don't drag it, the wheel-well clearance is tight and the lower edges will scuff the bedsides.
  4. Locate the factory bed cleats / stake pockets the kit uses and run the supplied bolts hand-tight first, then torque to 35-50 lb-ft. No drilling on the 4th/5th-gen 6.4' bed.
  5. Cycle both drawers fully open and closed to confirm the slides aren't binding against the wheel wells, then load-test each to a fraction of its 200 lb rating before trusting it on the trail.

The flat top deck sits at wheel-well height, which is exactly the surface a pw-overland-sleep-platform needs — pair the two and you get storage and a bed in one. If you're also running a fridge, plan its slide location now; see pw-overland-fridge.

The single biggest regret is vertical space. The Decked eats 11-13 inches of bed depth. Measure the tallest thing you regularly haul — a dirt bike's bars, a kayak standing on edge, stacked firewood — before committing. Owners who haul tall loads end up pulling the system back out.

Watch the payload. At ~230 lb empty plus whatever you load into it, a full drawer system can add 400+ lb to a truck that already carries its own modest payload ceiling. That weight rides behind the cab, so it stacks with a rear bumper, tire carrier, and water tank against the rear GAWR.

Finally, confirm 2025+ fitment specifically. The new-generation Power Wagon bed cleats and dimensions differ from the 2014-2024 trucks; Decked's chart is the authority, and a kit cut for the older bed will not bolt cleanly to the newest one.
