Replace ratty/rotten factory carpet with molded one-piece carpet from Auto Custom Carpets (ACC). XJ-specific patterns available 1984-2001 in original colors.

Auto Custom Carpets (ACC) makes a molded one-piece carpet kit for the XJ that drops in after removing seats, console, and trim. Comes in factory cut-pile or upgraded loop. Available in original colors (agate, parchment, dark gray, etc).

Install sequence:

1) Remove front seats (4 bolts each).

2) Remove rear seat (2 bolts).

3) Remove center console (3-5 screws).

4) Remove sill plates (small clips/screws).

5) Remove kick panels.

6) Pull out old carpet — fight through the seat belt anchors (must remove anchors).

7) Inspect floor for rust. Treat with Rust Reformer if any present. This is the time to fix it (see floor pan patch entry).

8) Lay underlayment foam if desired (acoustic improvement).

9) Lay new molded carpet, work from front, cut around seat mount bolts and shifter holes with sharp utility knife.

10) Cut holes for seat belt anchors, seat bolts, console mount.

11) Reinstall everything in reverse.

Budget about 4-6 hours total. ACC kits are ~$180-250 depending on color and material. Stock backing or mass-backed (heavier, better sound) optional. This is also when you should add Dynamat or sound deadening (see entry).
