Mount a 40-50 inch LED light bar on the front bumper, behind the grille, or on a hidden lower mount. Rigid SR-Series, Baja Designs OnX6, KC Pro6 are top tiers; cheaper Auxbeam/Nilight work fine for casual use.

Mounting locations from least to most invasive:

(1) Lower bumper / behind grille (20-30 inch bar): hidden look, but airflow blocked to radiator if oversized. Works with stock bumper using clamp-on mounts.

(2) Bumper top (40-50 inch bar): most common, fits between hood and bumper. Many aftermarket winch bumpers (Rusty's, Smittybilt XRC, Hanson, JCR) include integrated bar mounts.

(3) Lower windshield/cowl: blocks headlights slightly; not common on XJ since the cowl is fragile.

Quality tiers:

Wiring: 50" combo bar pulls 15-25A. Run 10 AWG, fuse 25-30A, control via 30A relay. Aim slightly below horizon to avoid blinding oncoming traffic — and use only off-road.
