Heavy-duty adjustable front track bar replaces the stock unit with thicker tubing and a stronger axle-side joint; fixes axle centering and is a death-wobble must-have on lifted XJs.
The stock XJ front track bar is a thin tubing bar with a rubber-bushed axle-side eye and a stamped frame-side bracket. On a lifted XJ, the stock bar is too short (axle offsets to passenger side) and the rubber bushing wears out quickly under the increased loads from larger tires. Worn or undersized track bars are the #1 cause of death wobble on a lifted XJ.
HD adjustable track bars replace the stock unit with heavier tubing (1.25"-1.5" DOM), a stronger axle-side joint (forged tie rod end or johnny joint), and length adjustability. The driver-side mount on 1997+ XJs is a known weak point — the stamped sheet metal cracks over time. HD track bar brackets are sold to reinforce the frame mount; combine with the HD bar for a permanent fix.
Good options: IRO HD adjustable track bar ($180), RockKrawler HD ($220), Synergy ($260), Currie CurrectLync ($240). At lift heights above 3", an HD track bar is one of the highest-ROI upgrades you can make. Stock track bar end + lifted XJ + 33s = imminent death wobble.
Install is bolt-in if your frame mount is sound. If the frame mount is cracked (very common on 1997-2001), repair it BEFORE bolting up the new bar. Inspect carefully.
