JL-Specific Tool Additions
The JL’s electrical architecture separates it from every previous Wrangler. These additions are not optional — the platform demands them.
JL · 2018–present — Add These
- T55 Torx — Rear differential cover bolts and various chassis fasteners
- 35mm axle nut socket — JL hub removal
- OBDII scanner (Bluetooth + phone app is fine) — The JL throws codes after almost any service; you need it to reset faults and read live data
- Wire terminal pick set — Connector corrosion is the JL’s emerging electrical issue on older examples
Pack Strategy
Pack Strategy
The OBDII scanner belongs in the cab, not the trunk. It’s diagnostic, not a tool for wrenching — you’ll use it to read a code before you touch anything. The T55 and axle nut socket go with your 1/2" drive gear. Keep everything else per the standard layout.
