TJ-Specific Tool Additions
The base kit handles most situations. These additions address the TJ’s drivetrain and fastener profile — gaps the base kit doesn’t cover.
TJ · 1997–2006 — Add These
- 10mm socket (×2) — Same situation as the XJ; they vanish
- T40 and T45 Torx bits — Transfer case and brake caliper bolts
- 36mm axle nut socket — Hub removal; needed if a bearing fails on trail
- Snap ring pliers — Front axle shaft circlips on the Dana 30
Pack Strategy
Pack Strategy
The T-handle Torx bits and snap ring pliers can live in a small zip-lock at the bottom of your tool bag. The 36mm socket is awkward — put it with your 1/2" drive gear and don’t forget it’s there. Keep the extra 10mm in the cup holder.
