TJ Trail Tool Packing Guide

The TJ brought coil suspension and vastly better road manners than the YJ, while keeping the 4.0L inline-six. It inherited one key vulnerability from the XJ: the crankshaft position sensor. Pack to that failure signature.

TJ-Specific Tool Additions

The base kit handles most situations. These additions address the TJ’s drivetrain and fastener profile — gaps the base kit doesn’t cover.

The T-handle Torx bits and snap ring pliers can live in a small zip-lock at the bottom of your tool bag. The 36mm socket is awkward — put it with your 1/2" drive gear and don’t forget it’s there. Keep the extra 10mm in the cup holder.
