Early Bronco Tool Additions
The base kit below covers any vehicle. The early Bronco adds a short list of ignition-specific tools that reflect its mechanical reality. If you're still running points, these are not optional — they're the tools that determine whether you drive home or wait for a tow.
Early Ford Bronco — 1966–1977 Additions
- Points gap feeler gauges (.017") — Essential if not running Pertronix; you're setting the points on trail
- Timing light (dwell meter combo preferred) — For timing check after any hard trail session
- 9/16" and 5/8" combination wrenches — Ford SAE standard; these sizes appear constantly on the early Bronco
- Distributor hold-down clamp tool — For timing adjustments; the clamp is not accessible with a standard wrench at odd angles
- Carburetor rebuild kit for the Autolite 2100 — The accelerator pump diaphragm fails suddenly; carry the kit folded in a zip-lock
Pack Strategy
The points feeler gauge and carb rebuild kit are the early Bronco's critical trail tools — the things that will strand you if you don't have them and save you if you do. Everything else follows standard layout. If you've already converted to Pertronix, still carry a set of backup points — the module can fail.

- 3/8" drive socket set — 8mm–19mm metric, 5/16"–3/4" SAE
- 1/2" drive socket set — 17mm–36mm metric, 1/2"–1-1/4" SAE
- Breaker bar — 18" or 24"
